> TO DOTTIE AND PAT, Glad to hear from you both. We go back to Henri
and
Marie de La Cabines, French Huegonotswho fled to England in the late
1600's.
They sailed from England in 1700 and landed in Manakin, Virginia on
the
MARY AND ANN ship.
> In landing the "de La" was dropped and as in Spanish the "B" is
pronounced
"V", hence the CAviness. I am still two gerations short
but I will start
with my GGGrandfather Henry Caviness, b- 1815,Arkansas/wife- Nancy
RArkansas. Tjey both died in Mancos, Colorado. My GGrandfather, John
Caviness/b Arkansas/wife-Maggie Nichols Caviness of Blairsville, Georgia.
Tjey both died in Walsenburg, Colorado.
> My Grandmother-Molly Caviness McHarg/b Rye, Colorado. She died in
Walsenburg also.
> Henry, John, and Maggie came by wagon train from Texas to Rye, Colorado.
John was the wagon master and married married Maggie when they reached
Colorado. John and Maggie had 11 children. I can always fill you in if
either one of you sees any connection. As said I am missing 2
generations
between Henry and my infant Henri.
