And there is the land record in the courthouse in Bolivar, MO, that shows
Joseph Cavin's wife being called Polly after "our" Polly was supposedly
buried in TN.

I am jumping in late to add some information. I have worked with
Charlotte for years, and she is a GOOD researcher.
There is ONE tiny documentation that Polly Keele existed other than two
family records written by grandchildren. Joseph and Polly Keele had 3
children that we know of....Livy Ann, William Clinton, and Manervy Beulah.
Manervy Beulah Cavin McDonald has ""dtr. of Joseph and Polly Cavin""
on
her tombstone in the Burdett-Cavin Cemetery. It is believed that Polly
died in Bedford Co, TN. She has no recorded grave; we have never found
Bible records for Joseph Cavin and his 4 wives.
Joseph married second Hannah Keele, supposed to be a full sister to Polly.
The Bedford County Courthouse burned, so we have no documentation of that
marriage. We do, however, find her in census records, land records, and a
cemetery record; her stone says she was the wife of Joseph Cavin.
A Mary Keal/Keel/Keele along with Archa and Rachel appear in the 1850
census with Joseph and Hannah in Polk Co, MO. We THINK this is the same
Mary that was Joseph's third wife...also supposed to be a full sister to
Polly and Hannah. Their wedding announcement in the paper indicates that
she was from Boone Co, MO.
""In Sedalia, Pettis Co, Mo Sunday Sept 30 1866 by E. W. Washburn esq. Mr
Joseph Cavin of Polk Co. and Miss Mary Keele of Boone Co, MO.""
I have never found a Keele family for her in Boone County, but Archa
(Archibald) and Rachel ""returned"" to Boone County in later life and
lived there the remainder of their lives. I have them tracked.
It seems logical that Archa and Rachel were the children of Mary
Keal/Keel/Keele. If that is true, she would have been married previously.
A Keele married a Keal? We also know that Joseph was appointed guardian
occasionally of children in need. Were these children he had taken in and
were not related to Mary? Unanswered questions!
We FINALLY found the 4th wife of Joseph to be MRS. Margaret (Abel) Wollard
(widow of both Calvin Newport and Nathanial Wollard.) They were married
in Dallas Co, MO on 17 Dec. 1872. Joseph died in 1877 and is buried in
the Burdett-Cavin Cemetery along with Hannah and Mary. Margaret Cavin
returned to Dallas County and is buried there with her second husband and
his first wife.
The graves of Joseph, Hannah, and Mary Cavin along with pictures are
posted on Find A Grave.
Please fill me in on your descendancy from Joseph Cavin.
ps-hs-kin(a)austin.rr.com I will be glad to share information with you.
