It is ironic I checked my messages today. I have not checked messages
on
CIS in several months... I actually just reinstalled WinCim on my computer
to unsubscribe to CIS.
Anyways, I have done what you just did four years ago on CIS. Tracking all
the subscribers with the Cavin name.
I am originally from France. My father is from Switzerland. I have an uncle
whose passion is genealogy and he founded with Cavins from France and
Switzerland an association to research our ancestors. They recently
published a newsletter which I have tried to locate while composing this
message but I couldn't. It is in French anyways so it might be difficult
for you to understand.
Their latest research shows that (if i remember correctly) contrarily to
what they thought that the French branch seems older than the Swiss. They
also found an old branch in Scotland I think. One theory they are exploring
right now would be that Scotts who fought in the 100-year war (Middle Age)
might have established themselves in France.
In any case they have been able to go back to the 13th century I think.
I am going by memory though.
You might want to contact my uncle. He speaks French but I am sure he can
understand written English: his address is:
Raymond Cavin
37, Pre-du-Marche
Lausanne 1004
Switzerland
Hope this helps.
