I am trying something new. I have changed my list settings to
show the name of each list in the subject line. This is to help
those who, for some reason or the other, can not tell what list
the message is arriving from. I do not have that problem but it
seems others do. Please let me know what you think of the new
feature. Does it take up too much room in the subject line, is
it going to help you. You can send the replies to me or to the
list, as you choose.
Speaking of the subject line: Many people delete messages unless
the subject line shows something that interest them. When we
fail to put anything in the subject line, or forward from another
post and the subject line shows a subject unrelated to our post,
it may be deleted, unread, by the very people who would have been
interested, if we had only let them know what we were sending.
I would suggest that we all try to remember to include in the
subject the name of the person we are researching and the area
where they lived.
I know I am one of the worst offenders. I often forget the
subject line, expecting you to see my name and know I am the list
owner. I will try to do better in the future.
