I received the following letter from one of my Ashley list
members and it gave me a totally new out look on the WWW
archives. Check it out on his web page and see what you think.

*all* of these searches have an "on your own" search
where you can search for any surname you chose and often other
words as
well. If you search all the Indiana U. (Larry Stevens) regional
lists for
your surname, it is "as if" your were subbed to all of them and
only
received messages including your surname. My mind boggled when I
first
learned that you can do that. All the major newgroups are now
archived and
searchable (and included on my search page). It would be most
regrettable
if the surname pages were passworded or restricted in any way.
And the
real losers would be those who placed their queries on those
lists.
