Hello to All!
My ... it sure has been quiet lately. Hello-o-o ....is anyone home?
In a separate message to the CAVIN List, I will be reposting my regular
posting of my CAVIN Family information for those of you who are new to
the List. But first, I would like to preface it with some information
that I recently received from a gentleman in Texas concerning my line of
CAVINs in NC. I received an eMail from him where he states:
Les,
I thought I'd sent this to you, but if I didn't i apologize for
not
doing so.
Cavins,
I think my Word attachment will fill in a few blanks for you.
If you
can't read this attachment, let me know & I'll put in an e:mail.
I
think now I may know where my Robt. disappeared to after 1840.
His attachment (attachments should NOT be sent to lists, BTW) reads as
follows:
1. Saml. Cavin d. 21 Feb. 1761-15 Jan. 1762 Rowan Co., NC (should be
will)
2. Robt. Cavin d.<1790 (probably Rowan Co.)

I believe that a couple of you on the CAVIN List received a similar
message from this same person. Later on, in another eMail to me, he
stated:
Regarding your Robt., check out the 1820 Iredell census for him:
Robert Cavin males: (2)under 10 & 1 >45 females: 1 under 10 & 1 26-45
The 1790 Iredell Salisburg Dist. census is useful too
Widow Cavan (obiviously Sarah) 3 males >16 & 4 females
John Cavan 1 male >16 & 3 females
Want to guess the names of the 3 males living with Sarah ?
.... here's what I have for Rowan deeds:
5:438-440 Robt. Cavin & wf Sarah to Robt. Carson for 7 pds. 10 sh. 363
acres on E. side Catawba on Norrid's Crk, part of tract granted Saml.
Cavin 21 Feb 1761, said Robt. & Sarah being heirs of said Saml. decd.
dtd. 15 Jan 1762 wit. Wm. Null & Robt. Templeton
I don't remember if this was a Rowan or Iredell deed:
D-31-2 15 May 1800 John Irvin Sr., planter, to John Millar, planter,
for $275 100 acres on the main branch of Northwards Crk., a Granville
grant to Saml. Caven 21 Feb. 1761 of 467 acres & willed to Robt. Caven
& conveyed to Robt. Carson, then to John Irvin. wit. John Johnston,
Will Bwn. Jr. & Jno. Waugh. 12 Nov 1800
I am needing to get up to Iredell Co., NC soon, and follow up on this.
If what this gentleman states is correct, he has not only helped me
locate my elusive 3rd Great Grand Parents, ROBERT & SUSANNA (HAINES)
CAVIN, but he has also located my 4th Great Grand Parents, ROBERT &
SARAH CAVIN, along with my 5th GGF, SAMUEL CAVIN!!! I can only pray,
for now, that the above is accurate. Some of you might be able to
confirm this to me or use this information to further your research of
your CAVIN Family Connections. Please feel free to contact me at any
time.
Kindest Regards,
