"Louie" Cavin
Lewis "Louie" Cavin, age 82, of Hamilton, passed away at Hospice of
Cincinnati/Mercy Hospital of Hamilton, Sunday, October 25, 1998, at 5:05
p.m. He was born in Bulls Gap, Tennessee, the son of Willie and Phoebe
(Mowel) Cavin. Louie was a veteran of World War II, with the United States
Army from 1941 to 1945; a member of the American Legion Post #138; a member
of the Monkey Mutual Aid Society #1 and was a farmer in Butler County for
20 years and then was employed as a carpenter for Local #113 of Middletown
for 15 years, retiring in 1978. In 1955, in Hamilton, he was married to
Geneva Whitaker, and she preceded him in death in 1975.
He is survived by one daughter, Belinda Gabbard of Fairfield and
granddaughter, Paige Gabbard of Fairfield; one stepson, James Weidner of
Hamilton, and a step grandson, Jimmie Weidner of Hamilton; five brothers,
Tom (Doris) Cavin of Sevierville, Tennessee, Vean (Rosie) Cavin of Trenton,
Mearl (Iona) Cavin of Franklin, Ohio, Earl Cavin of Hamilton and James Ray
(Lucy) Cavin of Sevierville, Tennessee; three sisters, Opal Ensor of
Fairfield, Minnie Short of Talbert, Tennessee and Ruby Linkous of Hamilton
and a number of nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends and
also by special friends, Danny and Charlene Fugate of Hamilton. He was
preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Roxie Alvis and Dovie Powell.
Funeral services will be held at the Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330
Pershing Avenue, Thursday at 10:30 a.m., with Rev. Kevin McBurnie,
Evangelist, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home, Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to
8:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Cincinnati.
