Byron Hamilton Cavin (b. 1846-47, Miss.) is listed in the 1880 census living
in Burnett Co., TX.
His wife is listed as Amanda (b. 1846-47, GA).
Their children listed in this census are:
Charles, age 12, b. TX
Ruth, age 6, b. TX
Manda, age 4, b. TX
Harriett, age 1, b. TX.
Byron Hamilton Cavin's second wife was Hannah Krail. His granddaughter
reports that her grandmother was young when she married Byron who was quite
old. He died when her children were small and she picked up the family,
including some (all?) of Byron's children and moved to Colorado where she had
family.
Bryon and Hannah's children were:
Hobson Cavin, b. ? d. ?, Eagle Co. Hobson was crippled, never
married.
Rubye H. Cavin, b. Sept. 17, 1895; d. Sept. 22, 1975; bur. Sept. 24,
1975, Rosebud Cemetery, Glenwood Springs, CO.
Rubye married Henry Sharver.
Arlen Dale Cavin, b. 5-4-1908, Burnett Co., TX; d. abt. 1955, Eagle,
CO.
A.D. married Nell Guest Vail (b. 10-29-1911, Wynnewood, OK, d.
?)
Living near Byron H. Cavin in 1880, according to the 1880 census, is
William T. Cavin (b. 1851-52, Miss). Byron's family is listed as #12;
William's as #21 in the same county, Burnett, TX. Both Cavins were born in
MIssissippi, both were farmers, and both left their parents' birthplaces
blank. I think it is likely that they were brothers.
According to that census:
William T. Cavin is married to Se (sic) Cavin, age 21 (thus b.
1858-59).
They have one child, William H. Cavin, age 3/12, born Feb. 1880.
Does anyone recognize this family? Does anyone else have a Hobson Cavin
(unusual name, might be related)?
