Dear Doris Johnston,
I think you have a photograph of my my mother-in-law's aunt. If no one of closer
relationship has claimed it, I would very much like to have the photograph (or a copy of
it?).
I think if you take a closer look at the back of the photograph, you might see that the
child's name was MANDA rather than RINDA or MINDA.
Here's a little about her family:
Bryon Hamilton Cavin was born between 1846 and 1848 in Alabama, prob. in DeKalb Co.
His first wife, Amanda (unknown), was born in Georgia, between 1846 and 1849.
They had at least the following four children according to census reports from
Burnet Co., TX:
Charles Cavin, b. 1867-69, TX, prob. Burnet Co.;
Ruth Cavin, b. 1873-74, TX, prob. Burnet Co.;
Manda (since her mother's name was Amanda, she also may have been named Amanda
and nicknamed Manda), b. 1875-76, Burnet Co., TX;
Harriette, b. 1878-79, Burnet Co., TX.
Byron's second marriage was to Hannah Krail, b. 1873-74, TX.
They had three children:
Rubye H. Cavin, b. Sept. 17, 1895, Burnet Co., TX;
Bruce Hobson Cavin, b. Sept. 27, 1898, Burnet Co., TX;
Arlen Dale Cavin, b. May 4, 1898, Burnet Co., TX.
Byron Hamilton Cavin's parents were William Cavin and Harriet (unknown). William was
born in GA between 1814 and 1823. Harriet was born in South Carolina between 1826 and
1828. She died between 1870 and 1880 (in the 1870 census, not in the 1880 census).
In addition to Byron Hamilton Cavin, the following children were born to William
and Harriet Cavin:
Nathan, b. 1845-47, AL, prob. DeKalb Co.
Martha M., b. 1848-51, DeKalb Co., AL.
Mary, b. 1851-53, DeKalb Co. AL.
John Edmond/Edmond John, b. 1853-55, MS, prob. Calhoun Co.
William T., b. 1855-57, MS, prob. Calhoun Co. [married Sarah E. (unknown), b.
1858-59, TX; had at least one child: William H. Cavin, b. Feb. 1880, TX].
Henry, b. 1868-69, MS, prob. Calhoun Co.
Josephus "Joe," b. 1865-66, TX, prob. Burnet Co.
