I believe your grandmother Clara and my great-grandfather Walter Cavin were brother and
sister. My mother said that she remembers visiting an Aunt Clara (actually her Great
Aunt) in Baton Rouge (this would have probably been in the 1940's). My mother was
very young but she said she thinks Aunt Clara may have died as the result of an accidental
burning. She remembers her mother, Annie Cavin Gibson, being very upset over this
tragedy.

I am
also related to the Cavins of Wilkinson County.
My grandmother was Clara Christman Cavin who married
Alex Boyd Leake. Clara's father was Thomas Walter
Cavin. A lot of our Wilkinson County families are
interrelated.

I am actually a decendent of the Rabb, Leake &
Shropshire families. The Cavins married into these
families. My great great grandfather was Joseph
Rabb Leake m. Levecia Jane Shropshire. Their
daughter, Vera Arline Leake m. John Earl Flowers,
was my great grandmother. Her daughter, Ernestine
Eugenia Flowers m. Henry Jewell Beattie. My daddy
is their son, Richard Jewell Beattie, Sr.
I am also related to the Felters on my grandpa
Beattie's side. His grandmother was Mary Eliza
Felter m. Dave R. Beattie. I am also trying to find
any information on the Beattie side as we cannot
locate Granpa Dave's parents. The only information
I have on him is that his parents were supposed to
have been born in Mississippi with his mother
supposedly being full blood Indian. We had always
been told that she was Cherokee but if she was born
in Mississippi, it's more than likely she was
Choctaw.
Any other help that you can give me will be greatly
appreciated.
