Hello
I am looking for a copy of a government publication, reprinted in
1909 by Heritage Quest called "Surnames Listed in the 1790 Unitied States
Census".
If you have a copy of this available, if you post about two
generations from your identified 1790 Ancestor, it might help a lot of people
who are struggling to find a connection, while helping you find other
information. I believe that if I myself obtain a copy of this publication,
I can help a great many as well.
A publication called "Surnames Listed in the 1790 United States Census"
(a reprint of a 1909 government plublication by Heritage Quest) , as an
example it gives the number of Rogers/Rodgers heads of families listed in 12
of the then existing
states (GA record was lost). I am mostly interested in the southern states.
In Virginia, there were only 37 Rogers/Rodgers heads of families; in North
Carolina there were 148, and in South Carolinas, 81.
