She is my g-g grandmother. Her daughter Martha Jane (Patsy) Lemons married my great
grandfather William Henry Kemper. Family tradition has it that her husband Nathan was
killed during the CW, though he was not a soldier; she and her children, Martha, Phillip
and Will, came to Shelby County, Indiana as refugees.
The Handcock Democrat (Handcock County, Indiana, Thursday, November 22, 1894, page 1,
DEATHS: Monday night, Nov 19, Mrs. Jane Wicker, aged 80 years, at home of her son-in-law,
Henry Kamper, in Gynneville. Funeral Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Blue River Chapel. C. W.
Morrison & Son, Undertakers.
