Jacob died in Sumpter Alabama in October of 1834. Susannah Ratliff Tagert moves to
Rankin Co. MS. in Dec. of 1834 and purchases 159 acres on December 22, 1834 for a total of
99.45.

record is the definite link between Susannah and the children, as the children of
Susannah Tagert are listed in a Power of Attorney from Isaac Cavender to James Roberts in
Rankin Co., MS. dated November 12, 1850 .
Isaac Cavender and Susannah Tagert married on November 22 or 24, 1836 in Rankin Co., MS..
Susannah and Isaac have children of their own, in addition to the four children that
Susannah brought to the marriage. The other children are: Isaac Hays b. 1837 MS.,
George Washington b. 1838 MS., Green R, b. 1841 MS.,Thomas Jefferson b.1843 MS., and
Susannah Catherine b. 1845 MS.
Susannah and Isaac sold 81 acres land to Patrick Davis on May 5, 1835 for the amount of
$300.00. Land located in the east half of the north west quarter of section number 24,
township number 8, range number 4, Rankin Co., MS.
1840 Census for Rankin Co. MS. enumerates Isaac Cavender...as CAVINER with the following
in the household: 1 Male 20-30 ( Isaac) 1 male 10-15, 2 males 5-10, 2 males under age 5
. The sons that we are aware of are John Wesley, William Asbury, Isaac H. and George W..
1 female 20-30 ( Susannah) 1 female 1-5 ( Sarah)
( Cavender will be found spelled many ways but the family proves out to be ours with its
individuals).
Susannah and Isaac sold 40 acres of land to Benjamin Albin for $100.00 on April 5, 1844 in
Rankin Co. MS.
Susannah dies sometime after the birth of Susannah Catherine in 1845.
Isaac marries widow Susan Ann Tomlin Kennard and takes her children into his family.
By 1850 Isaac and wife had decided to move to Texas but would not take all the children.
The power of attorney between Isaac and James Roberts dated November 12, 1850 in Rankin
County Court Records,gives James Roberts Power of Attorney for Issac Cavender. This
document lists the children of Jacob Tagert and Susannah. The document is in preparation
for Isaac and Susan A., moving to Texas, leaving the children behind.
Susannah Catherine is apprenticed to Mary Roberts of Rankin Co., in the household of James
Roberts, on December 23, 1851. She is to learn the art and mystery of house keeping,
sewing, cutting, spinning and weaving. She is to be furnished a feather bed and clean
clothes.
Isaac transfers power of attorney to James Roberts concerning a lot of land until1851, at
which time the lot is to be sold and the proceeds divided among the three eldest children
of Susanah's first marriage to Jacob Tagert. Susannah Catherine was apprenticed until
adulthood.
There is one other record that says Susan C. Cavender married a man named Donald,
O'Donald or Mac Donald. The name was in a crease and hard to raed. it is in Isaac
Cavenders will.
