Hi all!
After giving up genealogy for a while (due to brick walls), I thought that I
would take another shot.
I ordered my gg-grandmother's, Dianah Cavender's death certificate. The name
of her mother was stated, "Anna Chisenhall" which conflicted with all of the
census returns which had the head of the household as "Mary Cavender". Mary
moved to Davis County, Iowa in 1847 and I have not found a census for Mary
after 1856 in Davis County.
After stumbling on a marriage in Posey County, Indiana for Richmond Cavender
to Polly Chisenhall, Jan 18, 1825. I decided to try
www.familysearch.com and
when I put in Polly a whole page of Mary Chisenhalls appeared. I think that
Mary Cavender and Polly Cavender may be the same person. However, there is
also a listing for a marriage of Jan. 17, 1825 for Richmond Cavender and a
Nancy Hardesty!
Henderson Cavender, Dianah's brother, posted on two census that his father
was born in KY, mother in NC. All of Mary's children but one, were born in
IL. I have the BLM records for Mary Cavender and Richmond Cavender in Pike
County, IL which were adjoining properties
Now that I have you thoroughly confused, does anyone have any information
about Richmond Cavender that might help me piece this together?.
Thanks in advance!
Have a good day!
