Hello djgross,
I am delighted to hear from you. Yes, I believe Celia Jane is their daughter and she and
her husband are also in the 1850 FC for Hardin County, under Nathan Layman, though
she's listed as Celiann. Apparently by 1850 she had married and she and her family
followed her parents to Hardin county, but by 1860 they were back in TN. I have various
family papers about these folks, but until your post, tying them to Francis and Patsey has
been tenuous; the Shelby County Health Department lost her death information, etc.
She used various names as well, Stella, Sella and Jane adding to the confusion. However,
my great grandmother, Martha Jane Lemons, was married as Patsey Y Lemons. After Nathan was
killed in TN in the 1860s and my great grandfather William Henry Kemper/Camper brought the
family to Indiana, Laymen became Lemons.
If you have more information about these folks or documents, I'd be pleased to have
copies and will be happy to pay for copying. I'd like to add your line to my tree as
well as any other relatives. I am going to take the liberty of emailing your post to John
Eggart, a descendant who's worked on Celia Jane and then on other family members who
moved to the west coast.
My email is kemperjohnt(a)gmail.com and my phone is 305-304-7064.
Thank you! John Kemper
