Lynn Clarke, my email to you bounced. I have
a substantial amount of information on your
Elizabeth Cavender who was listed in the 1850
census for Bloomfield Township, Davis County
Iowa where she was listed as the head of the
household, being 43 years of age and born in
Ohio and having children: Sarah, age 22, and
born in Illinois; Joseph, age 21, and born in
Iowa; and, James, age 15 and born in Illinois.
I also have some information on your gggrand-
mother, Dianah Cavender. Please get in touch
as I would like to exchange information. I also
have virtually the entire line of Ezekiel Cavender
who married an Elizabeth. What is not generally
known is that there apparently were 2 Ezekiel
Cavenders living in about the same place at about
the same time. One stayed put, and the other one
went South.

Subject: [CAVENDER] Joseph Cavender
Hi Mary,
I read, with interest, your DAR information about Joseph Cavender. I was
wondering if there was listed, the county or city of Joseph's death? I have
a feeling that Joseph may be related to my Richmond Cavender of Henderson
County, KY. He married Mary Chissenhall in Posey County, IN, which were
adjacent to one another with the Ohio River dividing the two states. He was
born between 1800-1810 in KY.
I am trying to piece together clues to hopefully come to a conclusion of who
his father was. I think that he might have been born in Christian County,
KY. I have listed a possible family that someone sent to me. Note: Richmond
Cavender was NOT married to Nancy Hardesty! I have documented proof of that.
Here goes:
According to DAR Application No 647898 which was filed March 15, 1979 in the
Mt. Garfield Chapter of Delta, Colorado DAR, by Bernice Cavender Cockroft
("Bernice Cockroft") wife of Albert A. Cockroft ("Albert Cockroft"),
then
residing at Austin, Colorado, RR1, P.O. Box 155-D, 81410, she stated that
she was a descendant of the above Joseph Cavender who subsequently married a
Zervia Aikens ("Zaraviah Aikens"?) and that Joseph Cavender had the
following additional children:
Richmond Cavender born about 1805 and married a Nancy Hardesey
actally "Nancy Hardesty") on either January 17, 1825 or on January 18, 1825
in Henderson County, Kentucky. Nancy Hardesty was the daughter of Henry
Hardesty and Hannah Howard;
Ezekiel Cavender born about 1806, first married a Sarah and later married
Lucinda Hancock on August 16, 1826 in Henderson County, Kentucky; Obedience
Cavender who married Alpheus Palmer ("Alpheneus Palmer"?) on April 20, 1824
in Christian County, Kentucky. Assuming she was 18 years old when she
married, then she would have been born about 1806.279 However, Obedience
Cavender may have been the daughter of Thomas Cavender who was the son of
Joseph Cavender; and,
Joseph Cavender, Jr. ("Joseph H. Cavender"?) born about 1810 in Tennessee
and married a Zervia Aikens.
Maybe this information will help. I haven't confirmed any of it yet, though.
Have a great day!
Lynn Clarke
