I have new information on my Cavenders. I am now starting to look to Virginia for my
answer.
I am still looking for my brick wall gg-grandmother, Dianah Cavender born Nashville Tn.
March 17, 1837 (obit), b: Kentucky (Ia census). Brother Green Cavender b: Illinois
(possibly Eden, Ill)
I rec'd this from the Davis County, Iowa list:
1856:
Henderson Cavender, 22, Clerk, born Illinois, nine years in Iowa, living with Jacob Neal.
Mary Cavender, 52, born Virginia, 9 years in Iowa; Green, age 19, farmer, born Illinois;
Mary Watt, 8, born Iowa; Francis M., male, 5, born Iowa.
I think that this is her family. I rec'd a pension request for Capt. Charles Clarke,
Dianah's husband. G. Cavender was one of the witnesses. It was passed down that
Dianah's name was Green. I found her as Cavender and Green Cavender in the same county
in the Ia. 3rd Cavalry. I think that the information was confused as it was passed down.
They both died in Kansas.
Mary Cavender is most likely a married name. I was hoping that her children's names
might give me a lead as their middle names look like surnames. I found a Francis Marion
Cavender in Putnam Co. Virginia.
Any ideas?
