In response to this posting I received the following info:
I'm not sure they accept items from WV. KY, Tennessee, MD and elsewhere are not
accepted if the person did not live in the Carolinas, VA or GA at the time of service.

The pension application files are available on microfilm from the National Archives and
can be borrowed by inter-library loan for a few dollars per microfilm roll. The
application files are arranged alphabetically.
Those who belong to a library can usually use their library card number to get access to
the Selected Papers from all Pension Application Files through HeritageQuest.
