Burials: Mr. William CAVE 4 May 1639
. An alabaster stone in the chancel of St. Mary's formerly bore the following
. inscription:--"Here lyeth the body of John CAVE, Gent. the fourth son of
. Roger CAVE of Stanford in Northamptonshire. He died the 3d of May 1639,
. in Joyfull hope of Resurrection to Eternall Life."
It will be observed that the Christian name of the deceased as entered in the
register differs from that in the inscription.

comfortable in his own bed after a life lived to the full, Jim of Catterlen,
Penrith, loved and missed by his wife Joan, his family and many friends.
Farewell at Carlisle Crematorium on Tuesday, 3rd February at 11.00a.m.
