Subject: Virus Alert
We generally do not post warnings to Rootsweb about Virus but there is one
making its way in disguised as a Rootsweb list message. We were notified of
it last nite, but they thought they had it stopped. Today two of them showed
up in my mail box saying they were from NEWGEN list and CAVE list. They
were
not from Rootsweb, but had taken on that name to try to get me to open
them.
Remember Rootsweb does not allow attachments! So if you get any email
coming
from any of the Rootsweb lists you are on, and there is an attachment DONT
OPEN IT. In fact, this one is so sneaky, the best rule to follow is DONT
OPEN ANY ATTACHMENTS. Even if you think you know the person. It comes in,
takes a name from your address book and makes you think it is to you from
dear Aunt Jane..! DONT open any attachment, unless you know exactly what is
suppose to be coming in, when; and you know the file name they are sending
it to you under. The high alert is up for the next four weeks. Dec 16 1999
