Hello, Kay! You have collected a lot of good information. Two things: 1)
I have doubts that Fontaine was the son of the Eliz Cave and William
Johnson of Orange County. I have no info that that family had a Fontaine.
Always with an open mind, I can be corrected. 2) Mrs. Thompson's
genealogical chart is incorrect as to the parentage of Benjamin Cave Sr.
Her genealogist was correct in many ways, but not that way.
Unfortunately, that chart has been circulated widely. William Cave, the
Vicar of Windsor, had his children before Old Benjamin was born. Benjamin
was probably born in the Tidewater of Virginia and the best guess, so far,
is that his father was John. No doubt all of the early Caves of Virginia
were related. There was a profound duplication of names. I suspect your
Eliz Cave and William Johnson were from the group that migrated to
Carolina before the Amer Revolution --- many of that group ended up in
Tennessee. However, Bledsoes from Orange County founded Bledsoeville
which was north of Nashville. All for now. Let's both keep an open mind.
Regards, Ed Troutman, Fort worth, TX
