I don't know if this would be of any help to you or not, but I have a copy of a paper
called THE MANNING FILES, which was completed by the late Mr. & Mrs. W. H. Manning of
Barnwell, SC. These files contain genealogies and other informative data about Barnwell
and its inhabitants during that time frame. The files / folders are found in a special
collection found at Aiken County Library SC and the Carolinianna Library, USC, Columbia
SC. I am an Ashley researcher so when I copied the folder for Ashley, it was the only
one I did but there is also a folder / file on just the Cave family genealogy. You
might find some help in that. I glanced through my Ashley folder, and many times it
gives the parents of a spouse but it didn't on your Cave ancestor. What it shows
for the Ashley side of the family is this:
Joshua ASHLEY, b. 1793 married Ausabel MARTIN, daughter of Taliaferro "Toliver"
Martin. Their children:
Taliaferro Ashley m. Bethel Weathersbee
Barnett Ashley m. Caroline CAVE
Permelia Ashley m. A.S. Stansell
Lafayette Ashley m. Amanda (unknown)
Elizabeth Ashley died (?)
Nathaniel Ashley m. Clarissa Weathersbee
Julia Ann Ashley m. W.L. CAVE
Rebecca Jane Ashley m. G.W. Green
Hepsebeth Ashley m. A.J. Weathersbee
Winnefred Ashley m. .....Brown
Jackson Ashley died (?)
Logan "Sugar" Ashley m. Virgie (unknown)
Dora Ashley m. SEABROOK CAVE
Barnett & Caroline Cave Ashley's children are named as well as her second husband,
John Henry Anderson Jr.
Julia Ann Ashley & husband William CAVE's children are also mentioned by name.
This one states that he was the son of Frances Ann Parker & Tarleton Cave.
Dora Ashley b. 1845 m. Seabrook Cave, son of Julia Ashley & William L. Cave but gives
no information on the children or who they married as many of the others do.
If you are in the area or have access to the libraries containing The Manning Files, you
might want to look at the Cave folder to see what it has listed. Or you may have seen
it already. Just a thought.
