Dear Robert--
I am a distant cousin of yours and am descended from Stephen (b1810) Caves'
brother William. Our families were intertwined for many years from
Baltimore, Md to Paris, Indiana to Bird City, Kansas where your grandmother
Mary Ann is buried. Several of your cousins (descended from Stephen) are
still living in Bird City. I would love to correspond with you to compare
notes.
Sincerely -- Ron Sandstead

My oldest Cave Ancestors in the U.S. begin with Stephen A. Cave
(1810),
born in Leicestershire Co., England. He immigrated to the USA where he
married Mary Ann McCarty (1820), b. Ireland. They lived briefly in
Maryland
and Pennsylvania and the moved to Indiana where they lived for most of the
rest of their lives. They had 12 children. Their son Henry Clay Cave
(1851)
was born in Jennings County, Indiana. He married Julia Ann Plake (1859) and
they moved to Labette County where they had 7 children. I am descended
from
their daughter Rosalind Eleanor Cave (1886) who married Clyde C Pittenger
(1886) in 1908. There were 2 sons of Henry Clay Cave, but they had no
children. This information is well authenticated and verified by me.
Going back to my oldest ancestors, who were in England, I would
return
to Stephen A. Cave (1810) who was born in Swinford, Leicestershire to
Charles (1765) and his wife Sarah Choice. Beyond this I must rely on the
records from the Cave Family History Society. They would indicate that
Charles' parents were John (1744) and Ursula Jackson; then Thomas ( 1700)
and his second wife, Mary Smith; then Richard of Walcot (1654) and Ann
Brown; then Thomas of Walcot (1612) and Abigail Lord; then Thomas (1583)
and Joan Parberry; then Thomas of Walcot and Elizabeth Mawbee.
This is extending my ancestry way past any information that I have
verified and so I believe I had better stop.
I know of no evidence connecting my Caves to those Caves who
originally
settled in Virginia and who apparently comprise most of the Caves living in
the USA today..
