If the "page county" to which you refer is Page Co., VA, then your Luther Cave is my first cousin, once removed. His wife's maiden name was Thomas. According to my database, Luther and Gernie had nine children (I only have a birth date on one child).
Luther was the son of Charles Milton Cave and Dora Cornelia Campbell (Charles and Dora had five children).
If this information is correct (for you), email me and I'll send you additional information

Sir Ambrose CAVE
Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster - 1559-1568
The Duchy of Lancaster is one of only two Duchies in the United
Kingdom, the other being the Duchy of Cornwall.
The Duchy of Lancaster was created for John of Gaunt, a younger
son of King Edward III of England, when John had acquired its
constituent lands through marriage to the Lancaster heiress. It is
not the property of The Crown, but is instead the personal (inherited)
property of the monarch and has been since 1399, when the
Dukedom of Lancaster, held by Henry of Bolingbroke, merged
with the crown on his appropriation of the throne (after the the
dispossesion from Richard II). The Duchy consists of lands in many
parts of England, especially in Lancashire. The chief officer of the
Duchy is the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, a high position
which is sometimes a cabinet post. Since, for at least the last two
centuries, the estate being run by a deputy, the Chancellor rarely
has had any significant duties pertaining to management of the
Duchy itself, he is usually available as a minister without portfolio.
The monarch derives the Privy Purse from the revenues of the Duchy.
The lands of the Duchy are not to be confused with the Crown Estate,
whose revenues have been handed to the Treasury in exchange for
receiving a yearly civil list payment since the 18th century.

Death Notices Jan - Dec 1889
April 13, 1889 Page 1
Engineer Chas. CAVE Found Drowned
A floater came to surface in the ship canal yesterday forenoon.
Undertaker Vanderhook took it in charge and Coroner Lang held
an inquest at which it was developed that the man's name was
Chas. CAVE, a railroad engineer, between 35 and 40 years of
age, who has been missing since last November, at which time
he was stopping in the Canadian Soo. The remains were positively
identified although badly disfigured from having lain in the water so
long, by C. N. Simpson, who knew Cave at Windsor, Ont, ten
years ago. On the remains were found a watch, several letters of
recommendation and $292 in cash. Ten years ago Cave was
married, had a family and was well-to-do, but addicted to drinking.
The supposition is that he fell into the canal while intoxicated. The
money was turned over to the county clerk, who in turn will deposit
it with the county treasurer, to be remitted to the state treasurer,
if not called for in two years. In the meantime the state has to pay
the expenses of interment.

TEDDINGTON LAWN TENNIS CLUB
Mr. A. E. CAVE's name first appears in the Club records in 1914 and
he immediately took an active part in the Club's management. He
was honorary Secretary of the Club during the difficult years from
1915 to 1918, and took on the position of Honorary Treasurer as
well in 1918 when the Treasurer was called up. Then from 1919 to
1930, when he died, Mr. Cave was the Club's President. To hime,
more than any other member before or after him, the Club owes an
enduring debt of gratitude. Without his generosity, and his level-
headed approach to the many problems that arose in those early
days at Vicarage Road, the continuance of a tennis club would have
been difficult and probably even impossible............

north of Meekatharra in a bid to find a missing Kelmscott man.
Richard CAVE (54) was prospecting with his brother-in-law near
Baxters Find, around 110km north of Meekatharra.
Around 11.45am yesterday the two went in separate directions.
Mr Cave failed to return to a set meeting place later that day.
A police media spokesman said Mr Cave had a medical condition
and required medication each morning.
Mr Cave was not an experienced prospector and was not familiar
with the area.
He was wearing pants and a singlet, he had no food with him and
only a small amount of water.

In memoriam
This past weekend my freshman Readings Conference teacher,
Mary Sue CAVE, passed away. I just sent the following remarks to
my undergraduate advisor, Dr. David Hoch, so he can read excerpts
at her memorial service tomorrow. I'm posting this here because
none of you probably knew Mary Sue, but I wish that you could have.
Her example proves that talented teachers can have a lasting impact
on their students. Rest in peace, Mary Sue.

Dallas County News - Adel, Dallas Co. Iowa - Dec. 7, 1898
William CAVE Sr. died Friday night alone in his room apparently
without a struggle. He was living with his son Aaron Cave and
family, and for the past year or there about has been deprived of
his speech from the effects of a paralytic stroke, but has been able
to be about the premises and occupy his place at the table and
fireside up to the date of his death. He retired as usual Friday night,
giving no evidence of any kind to indicate to the family that the end
was so near. Yet they were horrified next morning to find his body
as they had left him, but the silent messinger had called his spirit to
another world.
