Message Board Post:
I have a distant relative by the name of Daniel Maupin whose will was witnessed by a James Cave in Albemarle County, Virginia on October 9, 1788. I am looking for a Catherine Cave that was married to Thomas Jarman of Albemarle County, VA. Catherine Cave would be the mother of Elizabeth Jarman born in 1734 in Mooreman's River, Albemarle County, VA.
We have 65 members in the regular list mode and 12 in the digest
mode as of October 6th 2002. While doing maintenance check of our
lists, I found the gateway from the CAVE online message board was
not open.
You will see an increase in messages now, and PLEASE remember
if the message starts with the wording,
" THIS IS A MESSAGE BOARD POST THAT IS GATEWAYED TO THIS MAILING
LIST"
You CANNOT reply to that Message unless you go to the online link
that is above the message. These gatewayed messages are from the
Rootsweb/Ancestry boards only.
There are some very helpful messages that come through, so please
be kind and if it is not of interest to you, just delete them
from your email.
THANKS

If you do not take the Rootsweb Review newsletter, I
URGE you to go to this URL and read the information
about the Virus problems. I dont often mention them on
our lists but this is important!
I have done updates from Microsoft and reset some
of my view commands in my Emails, to try to stay
ahead of some of them. I have an older computer
which needs this done sometimes. If you havent been
updating please do so. It may not totally
prevent us from getting hit, but we can learn to be more alert to
this growing problem.

To date I have found no connection with my Eliza Cave (born 8 Sept 1809 Cowick, Yorks, baptised 8 Oct 1809 St. Matthews, Bethnal Green d. 30 Nov 1895 Manning, Iowa m. 11 Nov 1842 Shoreditch, St. Leonards (David HAMER) and any Archabald Cave.
>From information received through Hugh Cave, Cave Family History Society - www.cave-fhs.org.uk that Eliza's father is William Cave born 8 apr 1772 d 5 Dec 1847 m. Sarah Jefferson. William CAVE's father John Cave (Ironmonger of London) b. 3 Apr 1748 St. Sepulchre d. 25 Oct 1798 m. 19 Jun 1773 St. Botolpha Bishopgate Rebecca Saunders b 1753 d 7 May 1811. There is an entry in Kent's 1794 Director of London, listing John Cave 20 Mount Street, Grosvenor Square (In parish of St. George Hanover Square).
Am still looking for confirmation of any of the above, including where the Sir Archabald might have come from!!!
