I have learned today that my Catherine Clarke and Patrick Cavanagh were from Ballinasloe,
County Galway.
They married in Ballinasloe, July 13, 1859 and the witnessess were: William Lardner and
Fanny Rutledge
Their first son William was born there Sept. 1, 1860 and his baptismal sponsors were Peter
Raftery and Elizabeth Reynolds.
By July 1962 they were living in Woolton-Much, Lancashire, England and their second of 12
children was born then, Mary Ellen.
I have found the same spelled with and without the "u" and the marriage records
show Kavanagh.
Patrick had a brother Thomas who also went to Woolton-Much and he was married to a
Margaret. Thomas and Patrick fought in the civil ware in the U.S. They also worked on
building churches in the west. They were both stonemasons.
Patrick died between 1882-1891 and Catherine "Kate" emigrated to Philadelphia,
Pa. with most of her children.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
