Morning Nancy, We could be talking about younger sibs, more than likely
cousins. My James Henry served in the Civil War for the state of MS. I have
his family and all the extended members from the C/W to now, but nothing on
his brother John except ,"he remained in NY." Delia applied for her
husband's C/W widows pension, in answer to the question "Have you lived
anywhere other than FL she replied Yes MI and Ireland, When did you marry
said veteran Dec. 1857." Now how did they get from Galway to MI? and then
from MI to Fl. James Henry was with them, John came for visits however he
returned to NY. I am not sure where in NY. According to census James said
he came to America about 1845. On his death certificate his parents are
listed as "Jno Cavanaugh & Cicely Ann Carey" Does any of this link to
anyone on the list? Helen

My Cavanagh's also came from Galway. Left there in 1861 for
Woolton,
England. Brothers Tom & Pat fought in the American Civil War and were
stonemasons who worked on building churches in the U.S. Thomas and his
wife Margaret also lived in Woolton. The widow of Pat(Catherine "Kate"
Clarke) went to the U.S. with at least 10 of her 12 children in 1892 to
Philadelphia. She too was born in Galway and was a seamstress.
