John Christopher Cavanaugh came from Ireland (County Mayo) with his brother(s) to the U.S.
in the early 1800's. He married Adeline Johns(t)on in Alabama and moved to Vernon
Parish, Louisiana.
One of their daughters was Mary Alabama Cavanaugh who married Major Henry Finly Stanly in
Louisiana c. 1876. A daughter of this union was Elizabeth Jane Stanly who married Samuel
Neal Turner. These last two are my grandparents.
1. Has anyone found John Christopher on a ship passenger list?
2. Does anyone have documented information on John Christopher Cavanaugh's ancestors
in Ireland? We have word of mouth information on some possible living cousins in Ireland,
(and, in fact, have visited them) but with no documentation or records to connect them
firmly to our John Christopher Cavanaugh.
