Greetings,
If you are descended from OWEN CAVANOUGH and MARGARET DARNELL - First
Fleeters 1788 Please read.
I want to let you all know that DOROTHY OLIVE WALFORD nee DICK b 7 October
1906 [known as OLIVE WALFORD] will turn 100 on the 7 October 2006.
Olive DICK is the fourth great granddaughter of Owen CAVANOUGH and Margaret
DARNELL. And is from the line of Grace CAVANOUGH 1795-1828.
Dorothy Olive DICK is the great granddaughter of David Peter (Living)
LIVINGSTONE 1814-1899 and Lily MELROSE 1815-1877. Through their son David
Peter LIVINGSTONE 1850-1932 and his daughter Frances Isabella LIVINGSTONE
1880-1949.
Dorothy Olive DICK is also the second great granddaughter of William DICK
and Elizabeth JOHNSON of Scotland. Via their son who came to Australia, John
Henry Dow DICK 1808-1872.
Dorothy Olive DICK and Gustof Philip WALFORD were married 28 May 1938. They
only had the one son Brian Phillip WALFORD married and he in turn had 3
daughters, Susan who married and had 2 sons, Simone who married and had 2
sons and 1 daughter and Nikki whose marriage produced a son and a daughter,
Brian has arranged a party for about 40 quests to help celebrate the
occasion and I though I would contact all of you in our extended families to
see if you would like to help along the celebrations by sending a 100th
Birthday card to this lovely lady who still lives in her own home by
herself. Olive lost the sight of one eyes a couple of years back through
cancer and unfortunately there is a return of the disease which will require
more treatment.
Olive's address if you would like to make contact is:
Mrs. Olive WALFORD
6 Sullivan Street
RYE
VICTORIA 3187
(Australia for those posting from overseas).
In your card can you please put your full name and your descent line if you
know it as I am sure Olive will possibly still remember her Aunts and Uncles
etc. I have spiral bound a special ancestoral book for Olive to celebrate
the occasion and in the book (which is fully indexed) are the descendant
lines for all the CAVANOUGH, LIVINGSTONE and DICK FAMILIES so she can see
who the cards are from and where they fit into the family tree. I dare say
she will be excited hearing from you all.
I have tried to work out if we have any others in the family who managed to
make it to 100 years but found none although some have made it into the
90's.
I do hope some of you will take the time to send off cards to this lovely
lady from where ever you live in the world. This will certainly make it a
special celebration. Up there with her special card from the Queen and the
Governor General and Prime Minister of Australia.
Olive is a younger sibling (1 or 8 children) of my husband John Malcolm
Bates's mother.
I don't want anyone to feel obligated but I wanted you all to be aware of
this special occasion and hopefully some of your will wish to be involved.
love to all
Ronnie Bates.
