I received permission from Thomas Patrick Kavanagh to share the information below. (My
husband Martin has a 36 of 37 marker match on the DNA test with Thomas. We know our
connection is not a person who came to the United States, so this information has directed
me to do more work in Co. Mayo.) This is exactly as it was sent to me:
"My Dad, Martin Kavanagh was born in 1895 in the village of Kilimor, parish of Neale,
Co Mayo, died in 1970 in Kilmaine, Co Mayo..
He had brothers, Michael, 1884 - 1910,
John 1891- 1951 Illinios, Denis, Died as a baby 1897,
Thomas, 1901 - ?? Illinios.
Patrick, 1890 - 1967, in Gloversvill, N.Y., there were 3 girls where all 3 died in the
States.
My Granddad, John, born in 1860 - 1938 in Kilmaine, Co Mayo.
Patrick 1857- 1927, and assumed buried in the family grave in Ballinchalla, Neale, Co.
Mayo.
Michael J. Kavanaugh, buried in Amsterdam, New York, died Unknown.
Thomas, Born ???? - 1894 buried in Amsterdam, New York,
My Great Granddad. born 1816 - 1886 assumed buried in Ballinchalla, Neale.
We have not included any girls.
This is just a little bit of my Family Tree."
I did email back to see if he has a name for his Great Granddad (1816-1886). We hope this
helps someone. If a direct line male Cavanaugh/Kavanagh (etc. on the spellings) does the
DNA test and gets a close match to Thomas, they should probably do some work in Co. Mayo,
too. There are others in the DNA project who don't match us closely, but they might
match you.
Good Luck to all,
Georgia
