If this is Charles with the age off a couple of years, then he had a son
Frank that may have descendants:
New Windsor, Orange, NY 1880 census index shows Charles and wife Mary J.
both 32 years old with these children:
Elisabeth 11, Margaret 9, and Frank 2. I'm not sure these are your people
and the program didn't take me to the right page in the census. Good luck.

Kavanaghs from 'Leitrim' ca. 1850
Here's another shot by me in trying to find any remote Cavanaugh
cousins
living in the US today.
My ggrandfather Charles came over in 1853 on the ship "Underwriter" to NY
as a 7-year-old from 'Leitrim' in Ireland in the company of other young
Cavanaughs named Lawrence, Daniel and Mary (born in 1850), and they were
apparently escorted by a young man in his 20's with a different family
name. By the late 1860's, Charles had settled in New Windsor NY and had
married.
I've found no further trace of Lawrence and Daniel or their families, if
any. Mary, whose name is spelled Kavanagh in the censuses, can be found as
a 30-year-old 'spinster' in 1880 living with her parents, Bernard and Ann
Kavanagh, in Port Jefferson NY, after which they also disappear. Charles'
parents were definitely named Bernard and Ann (maiden name McMahon). I
assume that the Cavanaugh youngsters came over to join the Kavanagh
parents, who may have preceded them in emigrating (to Long Island).
