Hi, Tom, Yes, you'll need to find one more document to back it up one way or
the other. Frederick isn't used a lot in Irish families according to my
husband who claims to be 114% Irish. I followed his Cavanaugh family thru
years of census records, and knew that Bridget (widow of John) lived with
her daughter Sarah Marion (often misspelled in the census) for several
decades. Bridget's obituary was very short, but does list her surviving
children (Mrs. M. H. Marion, being one of them); however, whoever gave the
information for Sarah's death certificate came up with different names for
her parents. In such case, we go with the census information, but are very
disappointed that we couldn't pick up a maiden name for Bridget. Good luck.

My g-grandfather, Michael Kehoe lived in Cynthiana, KY from the
early
1850's
and lived there the remainder of his life. My grandfather, Patrick Henry
Kehoe was born there in 1859. I had always thought he met his wife (and
my
grandmother) while in Cincinnati, where he often traveled on business.
Guess he
had known her earlier if this is truly my grandmother. Your "find"
explains
why he liked to go up to the big city on travel!
My grandmother's funeral notice did call out her parents as Frederick and
Hannah of Kenton County, KY, thus my use of those first names. The other
names
and ages are striking, aren't they.
Now if I could only learn more of the Cavanaughs.
With thanks --
Tom Kehoe

Tom,
Here's an interesting family from the 1870 census of Cynthiana, Harrison
Co., KY, original page 16, 117/123 (if you check it on
ancestry.com it is
image 59 of 88:
Pat Cavanaugh age 60 b Ireland
Hannah W. age 45 wife b Ireland
Catherine age 11 b Ohio
Mary A. age 9 b KY
Ellen age 6 b KY
It may just be another coincidence, since we have all those names that
get
repeated in Irish families.
