Hi everyone,
I'm fairly new to the list, as I just found out a
couple of months ago through my genealogical research
that my great, great grandmother Bridget's maiden name
was "Cavanaugh." Now, I'm searching for the names of
her parents, siblings, etc. Maybe someone on the list
can help.
Here's what I know about Bridget so far. She was born
in July 1856 (or possibly 1854) in Illinois (or
possibly Ireland--two different census reports say two
different things--however, I'm more trusting of the
census report when she was the head of the household).
In January 1880, she married John Cullen (b. 1854,
Ireland) of Chatsworth, Illinois, in the Sacred Heart
Church of Chicago. According to the marriage license,
she was from Chicago at the time. In the 1880 census,
they're both listed as married and living in
Chatsworth. They had two children: Thomas Cullen (b.
1882) and Katherine "Katie" Cullen (b. May 1884-1887),
my great grandmother.
Between 1886 and 1887, Bridget moved to Denver,
Colorado, with John. Soon after, they apparently
divorced, and Bridget married Edward F. Hardesty (d.
1898), becoming Bridget Hardesty. She had three
children with him: Millie Hardesty (b. 1889), Nell
Hardesty (b. 1891), and Edward J. Hardesty (b. 1894,
d. 1949). I'm listing the Hardesty information in case
there's a Hardesty relation on this list who might
know more about Bridget.
Thanks for taking the time to read through this
information to see if there's a connection with your
"Cavanaugh" side of the family.
Regards,
Theresa Waggoner
