Frank F. Cavanaugh Rites Set
Masonic funeral services for Frank F. Cavanaugh, 91, member of one of Seattle's
earliest families, will be held at 3 o'clock Monday in the Wrigley-Clements Chapel,
Puyallup. Burial will be in Puyallup.
Mr. Cavanaugh died Thursday in a Tacoma hospital. His home in recent years was at Fox
Island, Pierce County.
Mr. Cavanaugh was born July 10, 1868, the son of Martin L. and Mary Ann Maple Cavanaugh,
on a family farm that is now part of Boeing Field.
Jacob Maple, grandfather of Mr. Cavanaugh settled in the Duwamish Valley before the
arrival of the Alki settlers in the fall of 1851.
Mr. Cavanaugh attended the old Duwamish Valley School and the University of Washington.
When a young man he was a farmer and employee in the King County Treasurer's Office.
Later Mr. Cavanaugh owned a farm near Kent. During several years in South Tacoma, he was a
carpenter and owner of income residential properties.
Mr. Cavanaugh was a charter member of home Lodge No. 100 F. & A.M. and a member of the
Pioneer Association of Washington.
Survivors are his wife, Winnifred; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Charles Eldridge, Fox Island and
two sisters, Mrs. Elvira Roberts and Mrs. Rose M. Newell, both of Seattle.
