Hi Folks,
I'm looking for info on my maternal grandfather's ancestors.
According to my grandfather's birth certificate August 24, 1896, his
parents were Francis J. and Mary McNulty Cavanaugh. His father is listed
as born in Providence, Rhoda Island and his mother from Ireland. We have
since found out his mother was from County Mayo in Ireland. His father was
a Puddler at the Burden Iron Works in Troy, NY and he was injured on the
football field playing semi-pro ball in the fall of 1896, dying in
November. We believe from family stories his father was was Michael
Cavanaugh and his mother's name was Ann and he had a brother Stephen and
sister Delia. Francis and Mary McNulty had 5 Children: Michael born 1890
and died young, Sara "Sadie" born 4/1891and died young, Anna born 5/1893
married William Curtin and moved to PA, Adella born 12/1894 married Charles
Bethmann and moved to Schenectady, NY and Frank born 1896. My grandfather
believed his ancestors were from County Cork in Ireland, aren't everyone's
Irish relatives?
My grandfather was born, raised and died in Troy, NY.. He married Faye
Esther Manning on 4/26/1916, dau of Francis Eugene and Bertha Ann (Leonard)
Manning of Plymouth, VT. Thier only child was Bertha Mae Cavanaugh, my
mother.
Any information will be greatly appreciated, TIA
