You must also remember that during the Cromwell era many Irish were transported to the
Islands. Many with the Irish surname are truly Irish.
Nancy
Tracy, Cavanaughs came from Ireland and ended up EVERYWHERE. If you
check
the census records for them I am sure some came to Canada, many of them to the
Pennsylvania area, and just about anywhere else. Mine went to Alabama and
then to Louisiana.
I suspect there may be African-Americans with the surname because they took
the name after slavery, but so far I have not met any.
