Searching for any information on these Cavanaugh brothers, Lawrence and William. They were
both born in Ireland, and both moved to Allegan County, MI.
In the 1860 Census, they were neighbors in Watson Twp.
William Kavonow 34, born in Ireland
Julia 30, born in Ireland
Edward 2, born in Michigan
John 1, born in Michigan
Lawerence Kavanow 37, born in Ireland
Catherine 33, born in Ireland
Edward 3, born in Michigan
Maria 2, born in Michigan
In 1870 Williams family is still in Watson Twp, Allegan County, MI
Cavanaugh, William 50, b. in Ireland
Julia 39, b. in Ireland
Edward 12
John 10
Laurence 8
Margaretta 6
William 3
Elizabeth 1
all children were born in Michigan.
Lawrence's family is gone.
I am a descendant of William's son, John. In 1880, John had moved out, and was a
boarder in Thomas Deayton's home.
Cavennaugh, J. 20, boarder, works on R. Road
He married an Ester (aka Easter) McConnell. Most of William and John's families are
buried in Sacred Heart Church Cemetery in Watson Township, Allegan County, MI.
I have been unable to find William and Lawrence in the 1850 census, in fact, most of the
Irish residents of Watson township had not immigrated yet. Does anyone know where in
Ireland these brothers came from, or have any information on where Lawrence's family
went?
