This Daniel Cavanagh was one of the brothers of my gg-grandfather, Thomas. The others in
the family were Mary Cavanagh, Ellen Cullen Cavanagh. Two other brothers moved to Iowa in
the 1880's and are Timothy J. Cavanaugh and Patrick Cavanaugh.
I have reseaarched this CavanaghCavanaugh branch to Ireland and I know the Scottish
connection and the Ball name are not part of this branch.
There was another Kavanaugh in Pontiac for awhile but they, too are a different family.

DANIEL CAVANAGH
NOVEMBER 12, 1925
Daniel Cavanaugh died at his home in Pontiac Saturday (Nov.7) night at 11:00
o'clock after a long illness.
Funeral services were held in St. Mary's Catholic church in Pontiac on Tuesday
morning, solemn high mass being sung by Rev. Father Cannon, of Pontiac, assisted
by Rev. Father Hearn, of Chatsworth, and Rev. Father Hoghen, of Chenoa. Special
music was furnished by the Loughran brothers.
The body was brought to St. Patrick's cemetery near Chatsworth for burial. The
pall bearers were Thomas Dillon, Daniel Whalen and John Flanagan, of Flanagen;
Michael Franey, of Chatsworth; James Kane and Robert Gorman, of Pontiac.
He was united in marriage at Flanagan, Illinois, to Elizabeth Cullen, which
union was blest by nine children.
He and his family resided in the vicinity of Flanagan about twenty years, moving
thence to a farm near Chatsworth, later moving to Pontiac.
He was a devout member of the Catholic church, a staunch citizen and a fond
parent, a man of sterling worth whose outstanding qualities are familiarly know
to a legion of friend.
He is the last member of a family of eight whom with their parents all in God's
good time have gone before.
He leaves by his death the following sons and daughters to mourn his loss;
Edward, Emmett and Charles Cavanagh, and Mrs. W.P. Brady, of Chatsworth; Misses
Nellie, Rose and Teresa Cavanagh, of Pontiac. His wife and a daughter, Miss
Ester, preceded him in death a short time ago. Also a daughter, Claire, who died
in infancy.
