Welcome to the Causton news group. This was started early in early 1999 so
that anyone researching the Causton surname or any of its variants
(including Cason, Caston, Causon, Causten, Caustin, Cawson, Cawston, Costen,
Costin, Coston, Cosson and Coyston) could exchange notes and get to know
each other.
I run the international Causton One-Name Study. This means that I collect
information on Causton family history in all times and places in the world.
There is information on my web site at
http://www.btinternet.com/~john.causton. This includes a list of over one
hundred researchers of Causton and variants. This particularly worth a
visit as there may well be someone else in the world researching in the same
time and place who would like to hear from you and may turn out to be
related. Also on the site are newsletters, issued about every six months
and an abstract of the English Record Office Register Index of births
marriages and deaths up to 1889, so far as it has been completed.
I have been researching my own family for about five years and a couple of
years ago widened this out to become a one-name study. My own Causton family
I have traced with reasonable certainty back to about 1550 in Great Clacton,
Essex, England.
I am always interested to hear from you and I can be contacted at
