The only Irish connection for any researcher that I know is Jim Cawston in Atlanta USA,
whose father was born in County Cork in 1908, the son of an English soldier. He was
probably there for only a few years. I know of no other Causton families in Ireland. Have
you checked the IGI?
I looked for Caviston in the British Public Record Office Web Site and found no entries.
This implies a very rare surname. One possible reason for that is that it is a variation
of a more common surname. Confusion between u and v in early documents is easy, as might
be vi for u. So a Causton connection is possible.
