According to "Court Minutes, no page number, Guilford County Court Minutes May
1831" Nehemia was listed as Nehemia Causey Jr.
Various notes I have for this Nehemia are as follows:
Marriage bondsman was Charles Causey 1813
deeded land to William Causey in 1819
deeded land from Thomas Causey in 1820
Nehemiah Sr. deeded land to Thomas Causey in 1820, witnessed by Charles Causey
deeded land to Roger Kirkman in 1826
deeded land from Elias Corvin 1826
promised to pay $5 to Joshua Causey 1828
A Nehemiah was in the 1790 Guilford Co. census. Note for this Nehemiah are as follows:
deeded land from Robt. Shaw in 1799
witnessed a will in 1801 and another in 1802
deeded land from Robt Doak 1806 [a Robert Doak Causey was the son of one of the 8 siblings
referred to below]
I have no concrete information this last Nehemiah was the Nehemiah Sr. who must have been
the father of Nehemiah Jr. In the 1800 Guilford Co. NC census a Nehemiah Causey Sr. was
listed with birth dates between 1744-1774. He is listed with 15 children, 10 males and 5
females.
I have the names of 8 Causey siblings living in the Guilford County NC area from the late
1700's to early 1800. They moved here from Caroline County, MD. I have no proof that
Nehemiah was an older brother to these 8 but believe it is possible. Nehemiah was one of
the children of the Caroline County MD family I have records on but I cannot account for
his whereabouts after they left MD. Another Nehemiah in the same family moved to Indiana
but there is still the missing Nehemiah from MD. Could he have come to NC with other
members of his family? Who knows.
If anyone can help establish this link I would be grateful beyond words as this has been a
30+ year search.
