The laws are already on the books. They want to tax the internet; do you
think they will mess with this tiny issue?
The only way to get their attention is to vote with your feet. You can find
most of the data online for free anyway. Check out your library and your
local genealogy club.
This is exactly why I never joined in the first place.

I've never understood why they think they should do that. People pay to join
their "service" for help in their research. My thought has always been that
if they "control" your family information by taking control of your
copyright then if you publish a book it gives them the right to take any
profit you make from the books although I don't see how anyone can make a
"profit". I've thought that members should contact their Congressional
representatives to pass a law to prevent companies from taking ownership of
information or data that any individual researched in their family trees.
Much of my data was researched in the 30 years before I started using their
service and I spent a lot of time and money doing it, including going from
the southeast U. S. to Salt Lake City at least 5 times. I haven't received a
check from them yet to pay me back for those trips and I'm sure that I'll be
wasting my time waiting for one.
