I think my ancestor's brother was Alfred Causey of Washington County, GA. He usually
spelled his name Cosey, but it was also frequently spelled Coursey and even Corssey and
Causey. I've never seen someone add an "R" into the middle of their name and
then take it out... but low and behold he sure did. :-/ These guys aren't making it
very easy to track this stuff. I'm wondering if his father was William Causey who
ended up in Amite, Mississippi. Anyone else have info on these folks?
A great-nephew of my ancestor Elizabeth wrote up the oral history his parents and
grandparents passed on to him. He spelled her name Saussey, so I'm assuming that was
close to how it was actually pronounced. We share no DNA with anyone related to the
Joachim Saussey line from South Carolina, however DNA triangulation has proven that
descendants of two of Elizabeth's daughters share DNA with the descendant of James
Coursey of Swainsboro, Emmanuel, Georgia. His descendants believe his father's name
was also likely William.
