Message Board Post:
I am looking for Causey sisters or more likely COUSINS from Anniston, Calhoun County, AL
and/or Etowah, Alabama.
In my Family tree, My great Grandfather & his Brother married 2 different ladies with
the last name Causey and they all ended up in Anniston, Calhoun County, Alabama & died
there.
FIRSTLY: Noah David McKeehan, James "Jim" McKeehan and Robert M. McKeehan left
their homes in Hamblen County, Tenn & moved to Anniston, Calhoun County, Alabama
shortly after 1880.
Around the same time period, Noah David McKeehan (my great-grandfather) married Susan
"Suzie" Causey whose Mother is living with her & listed on the 1900 Census
as Martha Crosby Born in 1806 & was 94 years old in 1900. I am POSITIVE (after many
years of researching both names & now finding the new info I have) that it is a
spelling error & should be Martha Causey. Susan's death certificate shows her
Maiden name as Causey as well. Susan Causey was born in August of 1863 in Talladega,
Alabama and died Aug 9, 1913 in Anniston, Calhoun County, Alabama. Her husband Noah Died
Jan 16, 1898. Their deaths are recorded in my grandfather's Bible in his handwriting.
Noah's BROTHER - Robert M McKeehan married Gelotta "Lottie" Causey BEFORE
1892 when their first child, Rhoda was born. Between 1892 and 1899 when General McKeehan
was born, she had some children that died (still not clear on how many, there is a
discrepancy...)I also have a George McKeehan as their son (named after Robert's other
Brother...), but I now have proof that General might BE George since I saw where General
signed his name on a Jail Bond for his Uncle Jim McKeehan under the name of "General
George McKeehan". Other children of Robert M McKeehan & Gelotta Causey McKeehan
are: Henry J McKeehan & Maggie McKeehan.
Gelotta Causey McKeehan's Parents were Dave Causey & Erma Franklin Causey.
It is ironic, they always say the stories about the "3 brother's that migrated
far from their own families & married sisters or cousins of the same family"
being myth - Well, it is Very True for this family. Another Brother of Noah, Jim &
Robert - George McKeehan who married a Mary Unknown in 1883 in Golar, Hamblen County,
Tenn. They moved to South Brownsville, Linn, Oregon BETWEEN 1900 & 1910, I suppose
after his mother, Priscilla Dial McKeehan passed away since she was living with them in
Jefferson County, Tenn in 1900 & by 1910 she had disappeared & George, Mary &
their son were in Oregon where they lived out their lives..
At any rate:
Susan "Suzie" Causey McKeehan B: Aug 1863 in Talladega, AL D: Aug 9, 1913 in
Anniston, Calhoun County, Alabama. married Noah David McKeehan B: Abt 1863 in Tennessee D:
Jan 16, 1898. They had 6 children only 3 that lived, one being my grandfather & I have
almost full lineage on them...John Eason McKeehan Sr; David Albany McKeehan & George
Britton McKeehan.
ALSO: Gelotta "Lottie" Causey B:ABOUT 1870 in likely Etowah, Alabama & D:
Sept 20, 1931 in Anniston, Calhoun County, AL. Her husband Robert M McKeehan was B: Nov
11, 1865 in Tenn & D: Jan 2, 1921 in Anniston, Calhoun County, Alabama. Positively, as
of the 1910 Census, she had given birth to 8 children & had 4 listed as living who
would have been: Rhoda McKeehan, General George McKeehan, Henry J McKeehan & Maggie
McKeehan.
Also: The PARENTS of Gelotta Causey: Dave Causey & Erma Franklin Causey who are both
listed as born in Alabama..... Ok, so anybody get any hits off this? I have been trying to
piece this part of my family together for 16 LONG years.....
