I'm still unable to positively identify the parents of my ancestor, Martha Causey.
However, am reasonably sure she was a granddaughter of Absolom Causey and wife Frances
Stocks. As you already know they, Absolom Causey and wife Frances Stocks, were the
parents of your ancestor, Christopher Causey. Therefore, it does seem very likely we do
have Absolom Causey as our ancestor in common.
I do wish to thank you for giving me the names of the children of Nathan Causey and wife
Louisa R.
All I had was the name of son, Robert M. Causey, born about 1879. I would much appreciate
if you have more data about dates and places of birth, marriages, names of spouses,
deaths, etc. I was able to find Nathan and wife Louisa and son Robert M. enumerated in
the 1880 census for Roanoke, Randolph Co., AL.
Also have found that Nathan and wife Louisa are buried in the Bethel Baptist Church
Cemetery in Chambers Co., AL.
Nathan was born 2 Oct. 1850 in Heard Co., GA. and died 2 April 1907 in Alabama, perhaps in
Chambers County.
Louisa R. was born 31 Oct. 1859 in AL. and died 5 April 1912.
With regard to any possibly family connection between your Sarah Ann Sims and my known
Sims ancestry, it would have to be several generations earlier, if at all.
Sarah Ann Sims ancestry is traced back to Francis Semmes, born about 1711 at Newport
Hundred, Charles Co., MD. and died 10 Jan. 1771. His wife, Lucretia Chapman, was born abt.
1714 Newport Hundred, Charles Co., MD. and died abt. 1771 in the same general location.
Later the Semmes name, for some descendants, became Simms, and later on some to Sims.
I don't have much on the parents of Francis Semmes, except for the names and dates,
Marmaduke Semmes (c.1675-c.1717) and wife Elizabeth Clarkson (c.1688-??)
If you will e-mail directly to me, I will be happy to exchange notes on Sims and Causey
ancestry with you.
