Thank you for responding and the information. Must admit that I was not aware that
Adeline's maiden name was Ray.
Also I did have the order of birth of the children of Wright F. Causey and Adeline (Ray)
Ellis Causey out of order and have made the correction.
Otherwise, your information is the same as was in my file.
As to the birthplace of Christopher Causey and his father, I'm very much inclined to
believe both were born in North Carolina. Can't say for sure, but suspect they were
from Anson County, North Carolina. Also, think I've seen it said that Christopher
Causey and Sarah Madden married in Edgecombe, Halifax County, North Carolina.
As you may already be aware, there were more Causey families, probably all related, in
Chambers County, Alabama.
John Causey, b. abt. 1790 N.C.
wife: Martha & ten (10) children
Note: a daughter, Frances Causey, married Paul Sims, a son of my GGG Grandparents, Hiram
Sims and wife Mary Abercrombie. Frances died in July 1872 and her sibling/sister Jane
Causey married Paul Sims on 30 aug. 1872. Paul had children by both Frances and Jane.
Wright Causey, b. abt. 1806 N.C.
wife: Nancy McKnight & ten (10) children
Note: She, Nancy McKnight, was a daughter of John McKnight, Sr. and wife Martha Sims.
She, Martha Sims, was a sibling/sister to my GGG Grandfather, Hiram Sims.
William Causey, b. abt. 1802 N.C.
wife: Sarah C. Tisinger & twelve (12) children
Note: one son was Wright Causey, b. abt. 1838 and married Lavinia Elvira Causey, a
daughter of John Causey and wife Martha.
Also there was a James Causey who is buried in the old Mt. Olive Primitive Baptist Church
Cemetery a short distance from Shiloh, Chambers Co., AL. That is the same cemetery where
my GGG Grandparents are buried; Hiram Simsam and wife Mary Abercrombie.
James Causey; 5 Jan. 1819 - 1861
A volunteer Soldier under W.C. Allen
Note: The name on the grave marker is James Cawsey.
Probably his children in that same old cemetery:
Christopher Causey; Dec. 24, 1836 - Aug. 26, 1840
S. Cawsey; died 1838
M. Cawsey; died 1854
I've not been successful in learning anything more about this James Causey and likely
his children buried in that same old cemetery. Wonder if he, James Causey, could have
been the father of my GG Grandmother, Martha Causey (1828-after 1900)
