Thank you for responding and all of the good information.
Yes, I do know all too well how frustrating it is trying to make a reasonably complete
file on all of these Causey families. Especially since I'm still unable to connect my
GG Grandmother, Martha Causey,(1828-after 1900) to any of them.
Also, yes, my wife and I have made a number of trips to Chambers and surrounding counties
where we visited with relatives, went through about every cemetery we could find and spent
time in Libraries. It is about 3000 miles there and back as we travel in a rambling
fashion.
My file on Ezekiel Causey is not from my own research, so can't say how accurate that
information is.
Ezekiel Causey

3) Sarah Causey
4) Maey Causey
5) John Causey, b. abt.1790 North Carolina
d. after 1860 Talladega Co., AL.

6) Allen Causey
7) Frances Causey
8) Ezekiel Causey, b. abt. 1795 Edgecombe, Halifax Co., N.C.
9) Matilda Ann Causey, b. abt. 1797 N.C.
10) Israel Causey, b. abt. 1800 Buncombe Co., N.C.
The name Absolom Causey is new to me. Can you give me a listing of his date and place of
birth, wife, and children's names and dates of birth?
Perhaps I've just found him as A. Causey; died 1840 and is buried in the old Mt. Olive
Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery just down the road, Rt. #53, from Shiloh, Chambers Co.,
AL. Is that him?? If so, he is buried in the same old cemetery as are my GGG
Grandparents, Hiram Sims and wife Mary Abercrombie.
For whatever reason I had thought this A. Causey may have been a son of James Cawsey; Jan.
5, 1819 - 1861.
A volunteer Soldier under W.C. Allen.
He, James Cawsey or Causey, is also buried in that same old cemetery.
also buried in that same old cemetery are:
S. Cawsey; died 1838
M. Cawsey; died 1854
I've ruled out Christopher's daughter Martha as she was born about 1832 and died 5
sept. 1885 in Randolph Co., AL.
While my GG Grandmother, Martha Causey, was born 1828 and died after 1900 in Franklin Co.,
AL.
The 1900 census for Franklin Co., AL. has Martha Lovvorn, widowed, residing in the
household of her widowed daughter Mary Jane Sims. Also, I do have a record of my GG
Grandmother, Martha Causey, marrying James Pleasant Lovvorn in Clay County, Alabama on 15
March 1880.
prior to that she, Martha Causey, was enumerated in the household of her married daughter,
Mary Jane (Causey) Sims and Mary's husband, Jeremiah Prather Sims, my Great
Grandfather.
1870 Lineville P.O. - Clay Co., AL.
Jeremiah P. Sims, age 23, b. AL.
Mary Sims, age 20, b. AL. - wife.
Martha Causey, age 35, b. GA. - mother-in-law to head of household.
1880 Fox Creek Beat - Clay Co., AL.
Jeremiah Sims, age 33, b. AL. - parents b. SC
Mary Sims, age 30, b. AL. - parents b. GA.
William Sims, age 9, b. AL. - son
Lewis Sims, age 7, b. AL. - son
Ida Sims, age 5, b. AL. - daughter
Anderson Sims, age 2, b. AL. - son
Martha Causey, age 48, b. GA. parents b. VA?
Note: Martha is listed as mother-in-law to head of household.
1900 census Newburg Beat - Franklin Co., AL. July 13, 1900
Mary Sims, age 49, widow, b. Aug. 1850 AL. parents b. AL??
Johney Sims, age 15, b. July 1884 AL. - son.
Robert Sims, age 12, b. June 1887 AL. - son.
Ossie Sims, age 10, b. Dec. 1889 AL. - son
Martha Lovern, widow, age 72, b. March 1828 GA. parents b. GA??
Note: Johney Sims above was my Grandfather, John thomas Sims.
I've not been able to learn just when or where my GG Grandmother, Martha (Causey)
Lovvorn died and is buried, but suspect she may be buried in an unmarked grave in the
Cherry Hill Baptist Church Cemetery near Phil Campbell, Franklin County, Alabama. Her
daughter, my Great Grandmother, Mary Jane (Causey) Sims is buried in a marked grave in the
Phil Campbell City Cemetery at Phil campbell, Franklin Co., AL. My wife and I paid for a
small marker for her grave "Mary Causey Sims 1850 - 1921". The small marker
that was and still is on her grave had no name or dates on it. One of her Grandsons,
Charles Chester Thompson, was still alive and residing in Phil campbell, AL. and he took
my wife and I to the grave so we could know for sure it was the grave of Mary Jane
(Causey) Sims.
That was back about 1975 when we visited with him, Charles Chester Thompson. Think some
of his children are still living in or near Phil Campbell, AL.
