My great grandfather Leighton E. Stewart, was the son of John B. Stewart and
Mary M.(Causey) Stewart. According to a list of early Georgia Marriages,
they were married about Nov. 24, 1847, in Wayne County. The list has John's
last name spelled Stuart. However, later records spell it Stewart. They
had 10 children including my ggrandfather. I know little about the Causey
family.
Mary was listed as a widow on the 1880 census. Some of the children
including Leighton were still living at home. He was about 22 at the time.
Sure wish I had more on Causey family.
If anyone can help please reply.
Thank you,
Chris
