MUSCATINE, Iowa - Arthur J. Causey, 78, died at his home after an extended illness,
surrounded by his family, on Thursday, December 13, 2001.
A Memorial Mass will be at the St. Mathias Catholic Church. The Reverend Rob Lathrop will
officiate. The family will gather at Gannon Hall following the Mass for a time of food
and fellowship.
No visitation is planned. The body has been cremated according to his wishes. The Ralph
J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He was born on March 11, 1923, in Keithsburg, Illinois, the son of Harry and Cleo Wakeland
Causey. He married Roberta Moylan on October 25, 1941, in Wilton.
He graduated from Muscatine High School in 1940.
He served in World War II as a paratrooper with the Screaming Eagles, participating in the
Normandy Invasion, Holland, Bastogne, and Germany.
He was an active member of the St. Mathias Church, Elks Lodge No. 304, Moose Lodge No.
388, American Legion Post 27, and the Knights of Columbus.
He worked at the Muscatine Coca Cola plant, he later managed the King's store, and
retired from Krieger Motor Company after 33 years of service.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and bowling. He took great joy in trips to the lock and
dam to watch the eagles. He was a proud and honest man who loved his family.
Survivors include his wife, Roberta Causey of Muscatine; two sons, Gary Causey and his
wife, Margaret, of Muscatine, and James Causey and his wife, Deby, of Burlington; his
mother, Cleo Causey of Muscatine; one brother, Harry L. Causey and his wife, Wilma, of
Muscatine; five grandchildren, Joe, Christopher, Michelle, Sarah and Robert; and four
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1985.
