Thanks. I will let you know. One of my wife's female relatives was
supposedly a Covacy from France but I have never found any Covacys.
Several Census' said her father was born in France. So I thought Causey
and a few other spellings might be the way to look. Bob

Bob,
I don't have anything documented regarding your request, however, I do have
some information of interest, but don't know how to go about proving it.
Back in 1963 ir 64, I received a long distance phone call from the mother of
a doctor in the town in which I was pastoring. She wanted to know if I had
any information on the Causey line and I didn't have anything to tell her.
Since I couldn't help her, she gladly informed me of what she had on the
Causeys. She said that the Causeys were French and came over with the
Hugenots and settled in Tennesee. At that time the name was pronounced
Causer, with the accent being on the er and it was pronounced like a long a.
She said they settled in Tennesee and the as they began to migrate down to
North 'Carolina and eventually to South Carolina, the r was changed to y and
the pronounciation then was Causey as we spell it now/. At the time of our
discussion, I was not that interested in genealogy and I kinda forgot about
it, but the lady is dead now, but I certainly would like to know if what she
told me was true. I do believe that much of the French Causeys that came to
this country still had their origin in Ireland, but that is just a hunch, I
really don't know. If you find out anything about the French Causeys,
please let me know.
Thanks,
Bob Causey
